FAKE FAKE FAKE...after unstringing these "pearls", I found them to feel different so I used my plyers to try and crush one because I doubted their authenticity...sure enough...PLASTIC with a coating. I feel soooo cheated and will definitely re-think ordering from YouPearl again!

Dear Dena,
We describe them correctly as SHELL pearls. The internal material is shell, not PLASTIC. Shell pearls are made of big sea shells which lay on the bottom of sea bed. Manufactures cut the big shell into different shapes, and then manually coat them to create all kind of color effects of pearls. Technically, they are one type of imitation pearls but are much better than the glass or plastic pearls.
Shell pearl cost is only a fraction of real pearls. Real pearls of these size and shape would cost much more.
