Freshwater drop shape pearls have teardrop, pear or even peanut shapes.
Because they are usually drilled widthwise at the narrowest end, they are also called top-drilled pearls or dancing pearls.
Top drilled pearls are measured by two sizes with size ranges, e.g., 5x7-8mm. The first measurement is the width of the pearls (drops), the second measurement is the length of the pearls.
